Edward D. Mills, age 92 of Hot Springs, Ark., received his heavenly wings Thursday May 24, 2018. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to many. He was a devout Christian and member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He has served many terms as deacon and elder of the Presbyterian Church USA. He proudly served in the US Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged from WWII. His service was decorated with the Victory Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Rim ribbon, the Philippine Liberation ribbon, and the American Theater ribbon. He was honorably discharged from the Korean Conflict with the National Defense medal. He graduated from Arkansas Teachers College in 1949. There he met, and then married, his beautiful wife Jean Townsend in 1948. They both taught school in Hartford, Arkansas. After they began their family, he was hired as a sales representative for Little Rock Road Machinery. He was a dedicated and successful salesman and retired after 33 years of service. He was Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 12, and later Troop 15. He received the following awards for his outstanding leadership: The Silver Beaver Award and the Arrowhead Award. He was district commissioner and was awarded the District Award of Merit. He also was recognized for Outstanding Dedication for Troop 12. He is preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Thelma Mills, brothers William and Herald Mills, and his sister Marie Curd. He is survived by his wife of 69 years Jean, his brothers Fred, Faber, Kenneth and Russell Mills, and his sister Floyma Sutterfield, his children John and his wife JoAnne, David and his wife Hannah, Paul and his wife Patricia, and Angela Johnson; his grandchildren Marie Mills, David Mills, Joshua Mills, Jacob Mills, Jereme and his wife Allison Mills, Shelley and her husband Jeff Bailey, and Autumn Johnson, and his great-granddaughter Violet Mills. A visitation will be held at 10am Tuesday, May 29 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 3819 Central Ave, Hot Springs, Ark. The memorial service will follow at 11am. A graveside service will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery, 305 Bruce St., Conway, Ark., at 3:30pm. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to: Westminster Presbyterian Church, Hot Springs, Ark.
