Lena Mae Martin, 84, passed away May 25, 2018, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was born May 29, 1933, in Crosses, to William David Martin and Frances Ann Quick Martin. She graduated from St. Paul High School in 1953 and attended Fayetteville Business College. She taught Sunday School in Delaney and at the Combs Church of Christ until her house in Delaney burned. She moved to Fayetteville and taught correspondence courses to World Missions sponsored by Center Street Church of Christ, where she is a member. She worked as a secretary for Jefferson Standard Life Insurance Company for 22 years until the office relocated to Little Rock. She retired from Washington County Road Department after 23 years of service as secretary and office manager. She also worked as an executive secretary for NWA Underwriters Association for 13 years. She loved typing and did extra typing for court reports and university students. Lena also loved doing crafts, crocheting, and loved her three dogs. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Merl Dean Martin. Lena is survived by a niece, Debra Blodgett; five nephews, David Sean Evans, Dillon Smith, Zack Evans, and Seth Evans all of Silver Lake, Kansas; and Gary Shappell and wife, Karen, of West Grove, Arkansas. Graveside services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Patrick Cemetery with Jack English and Bobby Dockery officiating. Services are in care of Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
