Donald Lee Counts, 89, of Wesley, passed away October 30, 2018, at his home. He was born June 16, 1929, at Draketown, the son of Tilbert and Gladys Counts. Donald served his country as a member of the US Army in Korea, where he received a Bronze Star. He was married to the late Colleen Counts on January 15, 1953, and together, they had two children. Donald was predeceased by his parents, and his wife, Colleen Counts. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Diane Counts of Draketown; one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Jim Luper of Fayetteville; one sister and brother-in-law, June and Andy Kallianos of Durham, North Carolina; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, November 1, 2018, at Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m., Friday, November 2, 2018, in the Bruce Brashears Memorial Chapel with Jeff Watson officiating. Pallbearers will be Steve Corbett, Lee Ferguson, Jim Watkins, Dallas Counts, Josh Luper, and Carl Stewart. Honorary pallbearers will be Wheeler Counts and Kermit Teague. Interment will immediately follow services at Drakes Creek Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
