E. Joe Wilmoth, 90, passed away on Nov. 5, 2018, at North Little Rock Baptist Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, at North Little Rock First Assembly of God immediately after visitation from 9 1 a.m., with Pastor Rod Loy officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park in North Little Rock. Arrangements are by Roller-Owens Funeral Home. Rev. Wilmoth was born in Houston, Ark., to R.W. Sr., and Lona Wilmoth on Dec. 18, 1927. He graduated from Mississippi County (Ark.) High School and then attended Central Bible Institute in Springfield, Mo. Rev. Wilmoth's lengthy ministry began as pastor of his home church, the Lepanto (Ark.) Assembly of God in 1948. He married Wanda Jeanette Herndon on June 17, 1948, and the couple had two children, Judy Bohannon of North Little Rock and Joe D. Wilmoth of Starkville, Miss. From 1989 until his retirement in 2001, Rev. Wilmoth served as the District Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, providing leadership to more than 400 churches and 1,100 ministers in the state. Immediately after retirement from his position as district superintendent, he began serving part time on the pastoral staff at North Little Rock First Assembly, remaining active in ministry until his death. Rev. Wilmoth also served as pastor of Assemblies of God churches in Osceola (1951–1953), Forrest City (1953–57), Jonesboro (1964–84), and Magnolia (1984–89). He served in multiple leadership positions within the Assemblies of God, including Arkansas District Youth Director (1957 – 64); Assistant District Superintendent (1976 – 1989); General Presbyter (1976 – 2001); Board of Directors, Southwestern Assemblies of God University (1977 – 2001); Board of Directors, Compact Family Services of the Assemblies of God, including Hillcrest Children's Home in Hot Springs, Ark. (1990 – 2018). He was a life-time supporter of Assemblies of God missions and was instrumental in the development of Speed-the-Light in Arkansas, a youth missions program. He received numerous awards and recognitions for his leadership and service, including being given the key to the city of Jonesboro, Ark., in 2013. In 2001 he was elected to the position of Honorary General Presbyter for the General Council of the Assemblies of God, and Honorary Executive Presbyter for the Arkansas District. He was active in civic clubs in most cities where he was a pastor. Rev. Wilmoth was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda, in 2010; his parents, R.W. and Lona Wilmoth; three siblings, Louise Pierce, Jasiel Wilmoth, and R.W. Wilmoth Jr.; and a son-in-law, Bobby Bohannon. He is survived by one daughter, Judy Bohannon, of North Little Rock; one son, Joe D. Wilmoth, and spouse, Zelda, of Starkville, Miss.; two siblings, Melda Tanner, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Jim Wilmoth, of Jonesboro; five grandchildren, Josh (Kristina) Wilmoth, of Springfield, Mo., Michael (Carrie) Crews, of Willard, Mo., Matt (Alyssa Campbell) Wilmoth, of Stillwater, Okla., Melodee (Carl, Jr.) Owens, of Sheridan, Ark., and Kristyn (Michael) Sartin, of Perkins, Okla.; and 16 great-grandchildren.
