Raymond Lee Riggins, 89, of Dumas passed away on November 5, 2018 at home surrounded by family and friends. He was a loving and generous husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Raymond was born in Throckmorton, Texas, on December 6, 1928 to the late Hester Mae and Pierce Annual Riggins. He is predeceased by first wife Emily and daughter, Nan. Survivors include wife Joy, son Frank (Elaine) Riggins of Little Rock, step-daughters, Amy (John) Farmer of Dumas, Ark., Joylyn (Bill) Hinson of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and stepson Ross Puryear of Houston, Texas. Grandchildren include, Andrew Riggins of Fayetteville, Ark., Emily Slaten (Rob) of Kansas City, Mo., John Raymond (Ann) Crosby of Kansas City, Mo., Blair (Marci) Crosby of Columbia, Mo., step-grandchildren, Maggie Farmer, Ben Farmer, and Will Hinson. Great-Grandchildren, Colin Crosby, Hunter Slaton, Anna Slaton, Allyson Slaton of Kansas City, Mo., and Jax Crosby, Fletcher Crosby, and Mattie Crosby of Columbia, Mo., and close friend Vilee Harrell. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dumas but also frequented the First Baptist Church with wife Joy. Raymond was a retired executive with the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. He had also been a successful merchant, grocer, and salesman during his working years. He was an avid golfer, dominoes player, cook, story teller and loved a good gospel sing-along. He supported the arts, the library, and the youth of Dumas. He also once served as Justice of the Peace in Drew County and served on the Dumas City Council. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He never met a stranger and would gladly share any of his possessions with anyone in need. Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church at 230 Court Street, Dumas, Ark. Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. on the same day. Interment will be at the Mountain Home Cemetery in Star City, Ark. immediately following the funeral service. Memorials are to be made to the First United Methodist Church of Dumas Youth Program.
