David Lawrence "Larry" Johnson, age 84, passed away on Friday, November 2, 2018, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. He was born on August 10, 1934, in Liberty, Texas, to Leo Marion and Myra Alice (Jewell) Johnson. He is preceded in death by one sister; three brothers; and his two children, Carrie and Terry Johnson. Larry served his country for six years while in the United States Army. He was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed spending his time volunteering and devoted many hours to Meals on Wheels and the food bank. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Springdale and devoted much of his time volunteering with the Bread of Life program, the clothes pantry, and teaching Sunday school. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Carolene (Pine) Johnson of the home; two daughters, Tammy Melton and husband Tim, and Denice Chudej and husband Paul; one brother, Stewart Johnson; four grandchildren, Amanda, Joshua, Lindsy, and Acacia; and three great-grandchildren, Brittany, Desiree and Sara. A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2018, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville. A funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at First United Methodist Church at 206 W Johnson Avenue, Springdale, Ark. 72764.
