Vernon L. "Buzz" Brannon

Vernon L. "Buzz" Brannon, 82, of Cabot, Arkansas went to be with the Lord November 7, 2018. He was born June 21, 1936 to Coy and Maude Brannon. He graduated from Cabot High School and Ouachita Baptist College. Vernon was a captain at Fort Benning, Georgia, and served 11 years in the Army. After his discharge from the Army, he went to work at Jacksonville as a coach where he coached for several years. He then went to work for the Arkansas State Dept. of Education where he retired. He was a lifetime member of Cabot First Baptist Church, served on the Cabot City Council and served with the Lions Club. Vernon was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Ann (Byrd) Brannon. He is survived by his sons Michael (Cindi) Brannon of Cabot and Mitch (Amy) Brannon of Oregon; six grandchildren, Christopher, Timothy, Benjamin and Coy Brannon, Meghan Frawley and Sarah Foley; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Thomas Brannon of Cabot and Wayne Brannon of Jacksonville. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at Cabot First Baptist Church, with funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
