J.D. Brown

J.D. Brown, age 79, died Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at the Circle of Life Hospice House in Springdale, Arkansas. He was born April 21,1939 to J.P. and Osie (Jarnagan) Brown in Hazel Valley, Arkansas. He spent most of his life working in road construction. He started his career with Washington County Road Department in the tire shop and left after 19 years of service as road superintendent. He worked at Tomlinson Asphalt for 30 years and retired in 2009. The joy of his life was spending time with his grandsons and sharing stories about his younger years. J.D. was preceded in passing by his parents, one brother and four sisters. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Linda Shackelford Brown, of the home; his sister, Norma Johnston of Del City, Oklahoma; his son, Mike Brown and his daughter, Shirley Brown both of Fayetteville; two step-daughters; Deanna and son-in law, Ty Fraker and Tonya Baker all of Springdale; and five grandsons. Funeral services will be Monday, November 12, 2018, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Funeral Home, 3926 Willowood Avenue, Springdale, Arkansas 72762 with Pastor Jasper Hankins officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Memorial Funeral Home in Springdale.
