Dorothy Viola Jespersen, 88, of Rogers, Arkansas peacefully passed away Sunday, November 11, 2018 at House of Three in Rogers surrounded by her children. She was born March 28, 1930 in Brayton, Iowa to Hans Christian Andersen and Emma Christina Andersen. She grew up in rural Audubon County Iowa. She graduated from Exira High School in 1948. She was a teacher at a local country school. She was united in marriage to Donald Jens Jespersen on May 28, 1950. She settled into life as a farmer's wife near Elk Horn, Iowa. Born to this marriage were five children. She had a fulfilling life as a dairy farmer's wife. She helped with planting and harvesting the fields, milking the cows and enjoyed gardening and canning and freezing the fruits of her labor. She also worked for the Salem Lutheran Homes in Elk Horn, Iowa before moving to Rogers, Arkansas in 1976. She worked for Wal-Mart for ten years until she retired and assisted Donald with a lawn care service until retirement. She was a faithful active member of Peace Lutheran Church in Rogers and was a member of Ruth Circle and involved with Stephen's Ministry. She selflessly gave of her time as a volunteer to Peace Kids Day Care. She loved being a greeter at church and welcomed parishioners with her sunny smile. She is fondly remembered for her loving heart, compassionate giving spirit and cheerful laughter. The most important thing to Dorothy was serving God, her family and her home. Everyone remembers her bright smile and how she always gave of her time and put others first. She was so dear to all who knew her and was an angel to everyone. She was preceded in death by her parents ,Hans and Emma Andersen, husband Donald Jespersen; daughter, Susan Scott; great-grandchild Elijah Bame; sister Kathryn Hansen; brother, Richard Andersen; brothers-in-law, Gene Hansen, Edwin, Gerald and Russell Jespersen, Bill Roth, Darrell Jensen, Dick Evans, Don Lewis, Junior Davis and Ray Berger; sisters-in-law, Carol Andersen, Dolores Andersen, Ellen Jensen, and Dorothy Roth. She is also preceded in death by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Dorothy is survived by her son, Ronald Jespersen of Rogers, Arkansas; daughters, Diana Lindsey of West Des Moines, Iowa, Peggy Woolard (Larry) of Bentonville, Arkansas and Donna Bame (Charles) of Rogers, Arkansas; nine grandchildren, Sarah and Brian Lindsey, Brooke (Jesse) Bales, Tyler and Jonathan (Morgan) Bame, Keith Scott and Thomas, Ryan and Abigail Jespersen and great-grandchildren, Uriah and Isaiah (Bales), Caleb Lindsey and Kason Scott. She is also survived by her siblings, Robert Andersen (Betty) of Ankeny, Iowa, Harvey Andersen and Bertha Schroeter (Darrell) of Exira, Iowa and sisters-in-law, Margaret Andersen of Exira, Iowa, Harriet Lewis of Des Moines, Iowa, Margaret Evans and Jane Davis of Audubon, Iowa, Charlene Jespersen of Exira, Iowa, and Janet Berger of Bella Vista, Arkansas. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2018 at Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services, 2898 W. Walnut St., Rogers, Arkansas. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Peace Lutheran Church, 805 W. Olrich St., Rogers, Arkansas with Pastor Melissa Ehrhardt officiating. Burial services to follow at Pinnacle Hills Memorial Gardens 5930 W. Wallis Rd, Rogers, Arkansas. Donations can be made in memory of Dorothy to Peace Lutheran Church or to the Danish Windmill Restoration Project in Elk Horn, Iowa at P.O. Box 245, Elk Horn, Iowa 51531.
