Margrett Baker Griffin

Margrett Baker Griffin, 87, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, went to be with the lord on November 14th, 2018. She was born to L O Baker and Esther Baker on February 7th, 1931, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Margrett graduated from Little Rock Central High School in 1948, and attended Arkansas State Teachers College, and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where she met and married the love of her life Paul Y. Griffin. They were married for 58 years. After graduation they made their home in Little Rock, Arkansas for a number of years while raising their family. Paul and Margrett bought a weekend lake house at South Fork Bay on Greers Ferry Lane in the late 1960's. In 1972, after enjoying their lake house for several years, they decided to move to Heber Springs full-time. Margrett enjoyed telling people that she knew, how much she loved living in Heber Springs, because it was a warm and welcoming community where she felt like she was surrounded by family. After the children had left the house, Margrett and Paul bought the Browsing Post gift shop which she loved because it allowed her to reach out to so many individuals, including her very close co-workers. Margrett was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church and especially liked working with the young children associated with the Circle of Love Daycare. Memberships included President of the Panther Booster Club, Bas Bleu and the Red Apple Inn. She was preceded in death by her parents L. O. and Ester Baker; husband, Paul Y, Griffin, Jr.; and sons, Paul (Woody) Griffin III and Timothy Wayne Griffin. Margrett is survived by her son Gary Griffin and daughter, Gaye Stark, both of Heber Springs. The family would like to thank the staff at South Bridge Assisted Living and the wonderful team of caregiver's mom had for the last several years. Visitation will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, November 17, 2018, with funeral services following at 2 p.m. Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Heber Springs, Arkansas. Burial will follow at Cleburne County Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Heber Springs and Alzheimer's Research Foundation. Arrangements by Family Funeral Service.
