Sydney Ann Owens

Sydney Ann Owens, 83, of Decatur went to be with the Lord on November 14, 2018 in Decatur. Memorial service will be 3:00 pm, Monday, November 19, 2018 in the chapel of Jones Family Funeral Home in Decatur. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Sydney Ann was born March 25, 1935 in Oklahoma City, to Ben and Willie Cute Finley. She graduated from Arlington High School and then went on to attend the University of Arkansas and graduated from Texas Christian University, with a degree in nursing. She married in 1962, and lived in Hereford Texas where she raised two children, Doug Sidney Owens and Connie Ann Wyatt. She spent many years nursing and teaching nursing, and worked as secretary at First Christian Church. Later, after moving to Fayetteville, Arkansas, she served her community for 25 years as a volunteer for Washington Regional Hospital, and was a member of Sequoya Methodist Church. Sydney Ann had a servant's heart and volunteered with many organizations throughout her adult life. She lived the last five years of her life in Decatur. Sydney Ann is survived by her son, Doug Sidney Owens of Keller; daughter, Connie Ann Wyatt of Decatur; grandchildren, Hannah Owens, Marshall Owens, Madison McCrary, Mandi McCrary; brother, Bob Finley of Temecula,California; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Memorials may be made to Wise Choices Pregnancy Resource Center in Decatur, Texas.
