Glennis "Neil" Harrod, 85, died Monday, November 19, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Neil was born November 30, 1932 in the Lawrenceville community near Holly Grove, Ark. to Luther Harrod and Opal (Boals) Harrod. He was a 1951 graduate of Holly Grove High School and it was there where he would meet and fall in love with his wife of 64 years Bobbie Louise Coleman. They married on November 11, 1951 and made their home in the south Holly Grove area near Deep Elm. They welcomed their children, Jerry Ray in 1953 and Janice Carol in 1956. Neil was a faithful member of the Holly Grove Presbyterian Church for 58 years where he served as a Deacon and Elder. He was a life long farmer and worked for the Arkansas Highway Department until his retirement. When Bobbie ‘s daily honey-do list was complete, he spent his days doing what he loved, piddling, fishing and visiting neighbors in the community. He loved tending to his chickens and growing a garden. He took great pride in supplying family and friends with fresh eggs and vegetables. He enjoyed being Poppa for 44 years to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren where they learned from his slow pace, gentle and kind ways. His parents, his wife of 64 years, Bobbie Louise Coleman Harrod and brother, Charles Harrod, preceded Neil in death. He is survived by his sister Betty Jean Gerlach (Billy) of Jonesboro, son, Jerry Ray Harrod (Karen) of North Little Rock, daughter, Janice Everett (Randy) of Holly Grove; grandchildren, Brandon Everett (Misty) of DeWitt, James Neil Harrod (Samantha) of Fayetteville, Breanne Damron (Chris) of Jonesboro, Lindsey Chance (David) of Little Rock; Great-Grandchildren Kinsey, Katie and Emma Everett of Dewitt, Elleigh Grace and Warren Neil Harrod of Fayetteville, Reese and Mason Damron of Jonesboro, Carter and Cooper Chance of Little Rock; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a special childhood friend Jerry Hill of St. Louis, Mo.
