Mary Charlotte Griswold Klassen, 94, passed away on November 27, 2018. She was born on 10/08/1924 in Apalachicola, Fla. to Henry and Marie J. Hendles Griswold. Charlotte graduated from Chapman High School in Apalachicola, Florida and there married Frank J. Klassen, who with her support rose to the rank of Colonel in the United States Air Force. As a military housewife, she raised their children all over the United States and Guam, settling in North Little Rock in the 1960's. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was an avid crafter specializing in machine embroidery work. She enjoyed calligraphy, sewing, and gardening. In her later years, she really enjoyed flower gardening and landscaping. Charlotte is preceded in death by her parents and her husband; her two siblings, Henry Griswold, of Eustis, Florida and Germaine Kramer of Port St. Joe, Florida; her son, Warrant Officer Francis J. Klassen, killed in The Vietnam War; and daughters Alanna Marie Morrow of Little Rock and Suzanne Perell of Gravel Ridge. She leaves behind a daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Richard Scallion, DDS, of Lonoke. She was Mema to many grandchildren: Kathi Wieneke (Deryl) of Cabot; Erik Morrow (Meaghan) of Cabot, Marcus Morrow of Little Rock; Tiffany Kuykendall of N. Little Rock; Denise Holmes of Fayetteville; Michael Russ of Cabot; Victoria Christen Scallion of Perry. Her great-grandchildren are Shea Kinney (Chris) of Lonoke; Taylor Wieneke of Cabot; Nathan Morrow of Cabot; Taylor, Catlin and Aiden Morrow of Little Rock; Maxx and Anna Kane, Brokk, Scott, and Ellise Roberson all of N. Little Rock; Raleigh Russ of Cabot. Her great-great-grandchildren are Tucker and Cainen Kinney of Lonoke. Visitation will be held on December 1 at 10 a.m. at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main Street, North Little Rock, Ark., with services to follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be December 5 at 11 a.m. at the Little Rock National Cemetery, alongside her husband.
