Elizabeth L. Hutson

Elizabeth LaMerle (Christopher) Hutson, age 86, of Heber Springs, Arkansas passed away on November 27, 2018. Elizabeth, known as Betty, was born on May 29, 1932 in Garrison, Texas to Emil Franklin Christopher and Mamie Lucille (Nix) Christopher. When Betty was about 19, she met a young Navy man, Daulton Hutson. Betty and Daulton started dating, and after a short courtship, Daulton had to return to duty where he transferred to the Panama Canal Zone. After a long-distance relationship, Betty went to Panama where they were married on January 30, 1953. While in Panama, Betty was active in missionary work and also gave birth to the first of their five children. Several months later they left Panama and the Navy and returned to Houston. Betty and her husband went on to pastor churches in Conroe & Corpus Christi, Texas; Oak Grove, La; Sand Springs, Okla.; and Little Rock, Arkansas where they have resided since 1974. While in Little Rock, Betty began attending nursing school and retired from a career of nursing at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. After retirement Betty enjoyed watching MLB Baseball games, taking their horses on trail rides, camping and catching her share of crappie at Lake DeGray. She is survived by her youngest brother, Don Christopher; four of her five children, Ruth Foggo and husband Sidney Foggo of Alexander, Pat Bruner and husband Fred Bruner of Casper Wyoming, Linda Hutson of Conway, James Hutson and wife Betsy Hutson of Heber Springs; her eight grandchildren, JoAnn Hollingsworth, Taylor Edmondson, Kevin Hutson, Cody Hutson, Jennifer Kyle, Julie Bruner, Jacob Witkowski, and Alex Witkowski; 11 great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Daulton Hutson, her parents, two brothers and one sister, and her oldest son Carl Hutson. Visitation with the family will be at the Roller Drummond Funeral Home chapel on Saturday, December 1st, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. There will be a memorial service at the Roller Drummond Funeral Home chapel on Sunday, December 2nd, 2018 at 2 p.m. Following the service, Betty will be interred at Martin Cemetery in Southwest Little Rock.
