Linda Place Cover

Linda Carroll Place Cover, 76, of Gillett passed away at her home September 12, 2018. She was born February 18, 1942 in Memphis, Tenn., to James Carroll and Lady Wallace Place, who preceded her in death. Linda attended college at Henderson State University and graduated from Southern State College in Magnolia. She retired from teaching at DeWitt High School. Linda was an active member of Gillett United Methodist Church. She was a member of the church choir, United Methodist Women (UMW), and served as past president of the southeast district of UMW. She was also very involved in the community of Gillett. She was a member of the Gillett Garden Club and served as the secretary/treasurer of the Gillett Cemetery Association from 1978-2011. Linda was a past recipient of Gillett Citizen of the Year. Linda is survived by her loving husband, John Cover; two sons, John David Cover (Claudette) and James William Cover both of Gillett; one grandson, Jacob Coburn (Tiffany); two great-grandsons, Eli and Isaac Coburn; one brother, Scott Place (Karen) of Gillett; one sister, Leona Fletcher (Gene) of Stuttgart; two nephews, Seth Place (Shanna) and Tyler Place (Laura Beth) and their families; two nieces, Melanie Brentnell (Glen) and Melinda Collier (Brad) and their families; and her caregivers, Roberta Griffo, Becky Weinrich, Diane Clawson, and Paige Midkiff. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. September 15 at Gillett United Methodist Church with burial in Gillett Cemetery by Essex Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Gillett United Methodist Women, P.O.
