Mrs. Sue Sutton Hargis, born in Hope, Arkansas, on August 30, 1928, died Thursday, September 13, 2018. Sue attended schools in Hope and later Ouachita Baptist College in Arkadelphia. She met her future husband, Bernie Stover Hargis Jr., a returning World War II veteran, while at Ouachita. They later made their home in Warren, Arkansas, and raised their children there. They were active members of First Baptist Church of Warren and "Miss Sue" directed a weekday preschool there for 37 years. After her husband's death, Sue returned to Hope and was an active member of First Baptist Church of Hope, teaching a women's Sunday School class until her death. She was also a member of Chapter AE, P.E.O. Predeceasing Sue is her husband of fifty years, Bernie Hargis Jr.; her parents, Tena and Claud Sutton; sister, Claud Ann Freeman; brother, William H. "Buddy" Sutton; sister-in-law, Peggy Sutton, and brother-in-law, Ray Lawrence. Surviving her are a son, Bernie Hargis III (Barbara) of Fort Worth, Texas; a daughter, Roxanne Hargis Watkins (Dennis) of Little Rock; grandchildren, David Watkins (Paige) of Nashville, Tennessee; Anne Olson (Matthew) of Dallas, Texas; Sarah Watkins of Little Rock, and Daniel Watkins (Hana) of Bartlett, Tennessee; three great-grandchildren, Matthew Olson, Jr., Lucas and Levi Watkins; a sister, Roxie Lawrence of Hope; a brother-in-law, Bill Freeman of Little Rock, and a host of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family favors donations to First Baptist Church 315 South Main St., Hope, Ark. 71801. A celebration of life will take place Saturday, September 15, 2018, 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Hope, Arkansas, Reverend Daniel Bramlett officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens in Hope. Honorary Pallbearers are Wesley Sutton, Richard Sutton, Bob Sexton, Dan Kirkpatrick, David Watkins, Daniel Watkins, Matthew Olson, Michael Kirkpatrick, David Choate, Nathaniel Doddridge, Chris Bahn, and Larry Brown.
