Mary "Missy" Virginia Hill Carmack was born on March 26, 1954 to the late Cecil B. Hill Sr. and Isabel "Tibby" (Ambort) Hill. Missy was 1972 graduate of Mount St. Mary Academy. She never stopped learning, and in 2012 she earned her Master's in Nursing Education. As a Registered Nurse, she taught at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock where she touched so many of those that continue today giving compassionate care to those in need. She also worked at Arkansas Children's Hospital in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Missy's passion in life was her family. She was proud of the fact that each of her children earned a college degree. Her intense love of all of us was clear and evident in all she did. She was always ready to travel and loved the beach, New York, and Branson. Although if we asked her, she would say Branson was the best because she had all the children, spouses, and grandchildren under one roof. She will be greatly missed by her spouse, Jeff Carmack, her children Ashley and Michael Deeter of Little Rock, Amanda and Brandon Potts of Conway, Allyson and Dustin Hodge of Sherwood, and Andrew Hall of Little Rock. She is also survived by her siblings, Cecil B. Hill Jr., Diane Blackwood (Glenn), Danny Hill (Lynn), Gary Hill (Linda), Chris Hill (Sharon), and Betty Martin (Tim). Her heart was happiest when she spent time with her family, especially her 10 grandchildren. Ethan, Owen, Gavin, and Landon Deeter, Bennett, Blakeley, Brooks, and Blaire Potts, and Peyton and Logan Hodge. The last few months, her battle with cancer was clearly evident to those that knew her. She passed away in the predawn hours Monday, September 17, 2018, surrounded by family, finally at peace and free of pain. The family wished to thank the professional nurses and the staff at Baptist Hospital Little Rock as well as Ron M. Jones and Dana Downes for all their caring support. Missy's children are eternally grateful for the love and care that her husband Jeff gave her and them, not only during these last few months, but throughout their twenty three years of loving marriage. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Mount St. Mary Academy or the Missy Carmack Difference Maker scholarship for nursing students at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Visitation will be Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 6-7 p.m., followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home, 5800 West 12th St. in Little Rock. Funeral Mass will be Friday, September 21, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church in Little Rock. Please visit www.griffinleggetthealeyroth.com for the online tribute.
