Jimmie Fern "Tootsie" (Atkinson) Cusack, 83, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2019 at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, Ark. Jimmie was born February 10, 1936 in Vendor, Arkansas to Carroll C. Atkinson and Ester F. (Shatswell) Atkinson. She graduated from Deer High School in 1953 and continued her education at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Ark. Jimmie married Donald J. Cusack in 1959 in Tulsa, OK and they had three children, Kent, Scott and Kelly. The family moved from Tulsa to Dallas and then to Edina, MN where they lived for 20 years before relocating to Memphis, Tenn. in 1987. Don and Jimmie moved to Kansas City, Mo. in 2002 where Jimmie lived for 8 years before finally moving back to her home state of Arkansas for the last 6 years of her life. Jimmie is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and younger brother, Gene Allen Atkinson. She is survived by her brother, Clell Atkinson (wife Jimmie); all three children, Kent T. Cusack of Olathe, Kan., Scott M. Cusack of Rogers, Ark. and Kelly A. Grantham (husband Brian) of Farmington, Ark.; and two granddaughters, Katie and Kimberly Cusack. Jimmie was a devoted and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She spent many years volunteering for Children's Hospital and various other organizations. After moving to Memphis, Jimmie became a teacher's assistant to special education children. She will be dearly missed by all and long remembered for her humor, kindness and generosity. Visitation will be Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 11 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 12 noon, both at Holt Memorial Chapel in Harrison, AR. Jimmy Smith will officiate. Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery, Harrison, Ark. with her brother Clell Atkinson, two sons, Kent and Scott Cusack, son-in-law Brian Grantham, and two cousins, Roger Atkinson and Chad Toms serving as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Jimmie to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org or to The Circle of Life Hospice House in Bentonville, Ark. at 1201 NE Legacy Parkway, Bentonville, Ark. 72712.
