Phyllis Anne Isom Raney, 87, of Little Rock died April 2, 2019. Born in Dumas, Ark., on July 24, 1931, to Nell Joslyn and Dr. Alphonso Isom, she lived in several towns in Arkansas before moving with her mother and stepfather, Ed Peters, to Memphis, Tenn., where she graduated from Central High School. She then attended Texas State College for Women (now Texas Woman's University) in Denton, Texas, for one year before transferring to Southwestern at Memphis (now Rhodes College), where she was a member of Alpha Omega Pi sorority. After marrying and starting a family, she returned to college and earned a bachelor's degree from LRU (now UALR). She then obtained a Masters in Social Work from UALR, became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and developed a thriving private practice as a psychotherapist. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Little Rock and served in several capacities at Trinity including membership on the Vestry, Eucharistic Visitor, All Saints Guild, and Mourner's Path. Friends will attest to her sharp wit and unwavering political opinions, and no one loved to tell or be told a joke more than she did. She earned a Life Masters in bridge at the age of 36. She is survived by her brother, Ed Peters (Wava) of Terry, Miss.; a son, Bob Randolph (Eleanor) and granddaughter Lilly of Little Rock, and another son, Clay Randolph of New Orleans, La. The family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the home of Bob and Eleanor Randolph, 5805 N. Country Club Blvd. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 310 West 17th Street, with a reception following at the Cathedral. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Trinity Episcopal Cathedral. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home, www.ruebelfuneralhome.com.
