Stuart Preston Mathews

Stuart Preston Mathews, 68, of Sherwood, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2019. He was born July 10, 1950 to Robert "Bob" E. and Marjorie (Rook) Mathews in Little Rock. Stuart is preceded in death by his father. Stuart was a 1968 graduate of North Little Rock High School; he then went to UALR and earned his Bachelor's degree in English. He was an Eagle Scout at the age of 14 and later in his life he became a mentor to the Eagle Scouts by serving on the Eagle Scout Board Review. Stuart's love for service also showed when he was the President of the National MS Society Little Rock chapter. He owned and operated Office Furniture Liquidators in Little Rock until his retirement in 2012. Stuart is survived by his wife, Charla Mathews; daughters, Vonn Ely (Chad) of Macon, GA, and Andrea Reynolds (Joel) of Toronto, Ontario, Calif.; nine grandchildren; mother, Marjorie (Rook) Mathews of North Little Rock; sister, Gail Berry (Sonny) of Nashville, Tenn.; brother, Mark Mathews (Beth) of North Little Rock; and multiple nieces, nephews and friends. Memorial Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at First United Methodist Church, 6701 John F. Kennedy Blvd, North Little Rock, Ark. 72116.
