Maurine Heird

Opal Maurine Lain Heird, age 76, of Pine Bluff, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2019. Born June 4, 1942 at Rock Springs in Drew County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Dunkin Lain and Margaret Hainley Lain. She moved to Pine Bluff as a child, and was a graduate of Pine Bluff High School. Mrs. Heird worked for many years at the Trophy House and retired in 2007 as a cafeteria worker at L.L. Owen School. She loved her family and her home. Some people were "born to be a wife, mother, and grandmother", and she was one of those folks. Mrs. Heird enjoyed working inside her home, yard work, gardening, and washing her car. After her retirement she took great joy cooking at her family's deer camp, the Lincoln and Drew Hunting Club. Mrs. Heird was also a member of Watson Chapel Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Sam Bridges Heird, whom she married on September 29, 1961; two sons, Sammy Heird and wife Patty and William Heird and wife Lisa; four brothers, Charlie Lain and wife Frances, Donald Lain and wife Jackie, Danny Lain and wife Sharon, and Mark Lain and wife Bobbie; two sisters, Marsha Lain Heird and husband Woody and Cheryl Lain Edwards and husband James; four grandchildren, Jessica Heird, Nick Heird and wife Abby, Hunter Heird and wife Lauren, and Seth Heird and wife Sarah; one great-grandson, Branan Heird; along with many other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 24, 2019, 11 a.m. at Watson Chapel Baptist Church with Brother Todd Howard officiating. Interment will follow in Fitzhugh Cemetery by Fuller Hale-South Funeral Services. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Watson Chapel Baptist Church.
