Joy Dale Kooms, 74, of Dover, died Sunday, April 21, 2019, at her residence. The daughter of Russell and Bethel Lucille (Stair) McGrew, she was born July 3, 1944, in Houston, Texas. She graduated with a Master's Degree in Nursing from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, and spent most of her working career as a Registered Nurse with UAMS. She shared her worship experiences with the Dover First Baptist Church and Deer Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, reading, and traveling with her family.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents and her late husband Tommy Wayne Kooms. She is survived by her husband, Robert Smith; her two sons, Stephen Wayne Kooms of Little Rock, and Mark Thomas Kooms (Lauren) of North Little Rock; a brother, Charles McGrew (Patricia) of Russellville; and a sister, Shirly McGrew of Deer, Ark.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 26, 2019, at Humphrey Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Sandy Taylor of Dover First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be 2 p.m., at Edgewood Cemetery in North Little Rock, by Humphrey Funeral Service.
