Audrey Mae McCracken was born in 1925 to Elbert and Annie McCracken in Cane Hill, Ark. On April 24 at the age of 93, Audrey McCracken Stone left this world and soared to heaven to join her loving husband and beloved son. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Eugene C. Stone, one son, Keith Stone, two brothers, Toy McCracken and Howard (Dude) McCracken and five sisters, Roxie Huffaker, Ruby Rigsbee, Hazel Biggs, Jewell Grant and Ola Worship. Audrey enjoyed playing basketball on a team while in school. In 1943 she married Gene Stone while he was on leave from the Army. She was a loving mother to her two children, Patsy and Keith. A strong person herself, she instilled in her children the importance of family. Audrey had a loving outlook on the world and was an excellent cook. Her cornbread was the best and her family enjoyed her delicious fruit salad on holidays. She received her nursing credentials in 1947, and she enjoyed breeding and showing her yorkshire terriers. But her real aim in life was working with Gene in several family owned businesses. Survivors include one daughter, Pat L. Manzer of N.C.; three grandchildren, Lori, Kelly and Kylee; six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren with one on the way. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel in Springdale. Graveside memorial services will be at a later date at Fayetteville National Cemetery.
