Marilyn Frances Hartje Moores, age 93, of Little Rock, formerly of Russellville died Tuesday, July 30, 2019, in Little Rock. She was born on August 11, 1925, in Conway to George F. Hartje and Marguerite Bradley Hartje. She graduated from Hendrix College with a degree in English Literature. She moved to Russellville and worked as assistant to the dean of schools for Arkansas Tech for many years. Marilyn was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Russellville and a member of the Friendship Class. She was a member of P.E.O., the Culture Club and spent many years as a volunteer and student of Bible Study Fellowship. She was an accomplished cook and was known as a gracious host. During her early years in Russellville, she and her friends would cook the featured dinner each month from the "Gourmet" magazine. She also smocked dozens of beautiful dresses and outfits for her grandchildren. Along with Van, she loved bridge and travel. One of their favorite activities after moving to Little Rock was to play duplicate bridge at the Little Rock Bridge House. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Van Anderson Rochelle Moores Jr.; a brother, George F. Hartje Jr.; and a granddaughter, Rachel Schwartz. Marilyn is survived by her children, Mary Schwartz (Ron) of Russellville, and Brenda Hengel (Mike) of Las Vegas, Nev.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. The memorial service will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 3, 2019, at the Shinn Chapel. Burial will be at 1 p.m., Friday, August 2, 2019, in Crest Lawn Memorial Park near Conway and under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville. The family will receive friends following the memorial service in the chapel. The family would like to thank caregiver Matthew Lindsey, Baptist Hospice, and the staff at Parkway Health Center for their care.
