Pauline Cottrell Blasingame, 99 passed away peacefully on Monday, July 29, 2019. Born in Capulin, New Mexico. She was the 5th of nine children, being one of three sets of fraternal twins born to Marion Madison and Florence Ratliff Cottrell. In 1942, a handsome Army Air Corps corporal from El Paso, Ark. caught her eye. Hicks Blasingame and Pauline Cottrell married in 1944 and spent 73 years walking side by side on life's journey until his passing in December 2017. They spent the first 26 years of marriage in Houston, Texas where they had one daughter, Patricia Ann. Pauline worked for the Houston Independent School District for 13 years. Hicks and ‘Polly' left Houston and moved to El Paso, Ark. where they formed the Circle 21 Farm and Ranch. Over the next 47 years they produced, showed and sold registered Charolais cattle not only in Arkansas, but throughout the US. One of her greatest joys was helping in the community and sharing a smile and quick wit to brighten someone's day. She was a past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star where she had been a member for 73 years. She was a long-time member of the El Paso EHS and loved making items for hospitals, nursing homes and families in need. She was also a member of the Arkansas Cattlemen's Association (White County) and a faithful member of Park Hill Baptist Church-North Little Rock. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 73 years, Hicks B. Blasingame. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Thompson (Mark) of Clemmons, N.C.; two grandsons: Duane L. Thompson of Little Rock, Ark. and Marshall M. Thompson of Taos, N.M.; one brother: Howard Cottrell (Paula) of Albuquerque, N.M.; plus a host of nieces, nephews and friends. A special thanks to family and friends in the El Paso community and to loving and caring staff/workers at Beebe Retirement Center. Visitation will be held on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. with services following at 2:30 p.m. at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home in Beebe, Ark. Interment at Blasingame Cemetery.
