William "Bill" Ross Hughes, 74, of Benton, Ark., went to be with the Lord August 2, 2019. He was born August 6, 1944 in Lonsdale, Ark., to the late William Edgar and Ruby (Burks) Hughes. Bill graduated Benton High School in 1962 and then served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War in South Korea. Bill was a member of Holland Chapel Baptist Church. He retired from Reynolds Metals Company. Bill was a devoted grandfather and could always be found following his grandchildren wherever they went. He enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and playing golf. Bill was true Razorback fan and loved all things Razorback. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Tyler James Teague; and sister, Wanda Jean Allen. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of thirty-two years, Gwin (Gentry) Hughes of Benton, Ark.; two sons: John William Hughes and wife Nikki of Jonesboro, Ark., and Paul Douglas Hughes of Benton, Ark; daughter, Tara Louise Hughes of Benton, Ark; step-sons: Robert Dale Teague of Rogers, Ark., and James Michael Teague and wife Debbie of Little Rock, Ark.; nine grandchildren who were the light of his life: Chase Hughes, Teagan Hughes, Tanner Hughes, Jessie Hollis, Shelby Scriber, James Teague, Marybeth Teague, Tucker Teague, and Abby Teague; and many family members and friends who love Bill and will miss him always. Reception visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m., Tuesday, August 6, at Smith-Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market Street, Benton, Ark. Funeral service, officiated by Bro. Carl Richie, will follow at 11a.m. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Ten Mile Cemetery with John Hughes, Paul Hughes, Robert Teague, Michael Teague, Chase Hughes, Tucker Teague, James Teague, and Tanner Hughes assisting as pallbearers.
