Nolan (Joe) E. Womble

NOLAN (JOE) E. WOMBLE was born in Little Rock, Ark., on October 8, 1940, to the late Vance and Blanche Womble. After surviving numerous illnesses, he passed away August 9, 2019. He was in the hospital trying to get strong enough to fight one more battle. His recent diagnosis of leukemia. After graduating from UCA in 1965, with a BS in Biology and Chemistry, he worked as a Cardio-Vascular Perfusionist at the VA Hospital, UAMS, St. Vincent's Hospital, and Arkansas Children's Hospital. Joe was an avid fisherman and for friends of his son and grandson, to go fishing with Mr. Joe was a highlight not soon to be forgotten. To quote a friend, "I cherished his advice and always looked forward to his one liners that never quit coming". A member of Park Hill Presbyterian Church he loved the scriptures and the old hymns. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sarah Womble, son Jody Womble (Paige), grandson Josh Womble, granddaughter Chloe Womble, sister-in-law Carolyn Nash (Roy) and niece Amy Nash. Along with his family he leaves numerous friends that were blessed to have rubbed shoulders with him. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday August 13, at Griffin Legget Rest Hills, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday August 14 at Park Hill Presbyterian Church, 3520 JFK Blvd, North Little Rock. Memorials may be made to Park Hill Presbyterian Church or Sigma Kappa Foundation, designated to the Alzheimer's fund, at sigmakappa.org.
