Joe Edwin Holland

Joe Holland, age, 91, of Little Rock passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at the V.A. Hospital in Little Rock. A long time resident of the city, he became well known during the 1970's and 80's for being the drummer to his band, The Joe Holland Good Times Dixieland Jazz Band. They played regularly at Cajun's Wharf and the Afterthought. His band also played for the sendoff to Washington D.C. of newly elected President Bill Clinton in 1992. Joe was featured in the August 21, 2018 Style section of the Arkansas Democrat Gazette. He was born November 2, 1927 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Marie and Ben Holland. Joe did a stint in the U.S. Army followed by four years at Centenary College in Monroe, Louisiana where he met and married Nancy Horn of Little Rock. They had one daughter, Cathy Holland Wyatt and later divorced. Joe is survived by his daughter and four grandchildren, Lindsay Mae Wyatt, Dr. R. Allen Wyatt Jr., Jonathan Wyatt and his twin brother, Joshua Wyatt. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 23, 2019 at Faith Lutheran Church, 7525 W. Markham Street, Little Rock, Arkansas with Joshua Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock with full military honors.
