Frances Joy Scott Pelton, 88, died surrounded by her family on August 19, 2019. She was born to Elmer and Flossie Hamilton Scott on March 9, 1931 in the Salem Community of Saline County. She was the youngest of nine children. She graduated from Bryant High School where she was Valedictorian and Captain of the Basketball Team. After graduating from Draughon School of Business in Little Rock, she worked for the FBI. She married John Pelton Jr. on April 1, 1951. They were married for 68 years and together they raised three children. She worked as Executive Administrative Assistant in the Elementary Education Department at UALR for almost twenty years. She was devoted to her family and loved hosting large family gatherings. As a longtime dedicated member of Salem United Methodist Church, she served in many capacities. Through United Methodist Women, she exercised her passion and care for others. She served her community through delivering Meals on Wheels, serving at CJCHON and the Rice Depot. Her love of music was instilled in her children and grandchildren. She loved playing the piano, singing in the Sanctuary Choir and playing in the Bell Choir until recently. Survivors include children, Belinda Phil) Price, Mark (Barbara) Pelton, and Mary Anne (Karl)Seibert; grandchildren, Matt Price, Hannah Hunt, Emily Rosenthal, Melissa Abuzeid, Elizabeth Price, Abigail Kreie, Luke Pelton, and Joy Pelton; 11 great-grandchildren and a host of family members and friends. Visitation will be held at Salem United Methodist Church at 10 a.m., Thursday, August 22, with memorial service following at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, 1647 Salem Rd., Benton, Ark. 72019.
