Sylvia Stricklin Wood

Mrs Sylvia Stricklin Wood of Harrisburg departed this life Saturday morning, August 24, 2019, at her home, at the age of 92. She was born January 10, 1927 in Harrisburg, the daughter of the late Matt Stricklin and Mildred Hunter Stricklin. Sylvia was a native and lifelong resident of Harrisburg. She worked many jobs throughout the years but was mainly a homemaker and took care of her family and home. She loved to paint and sew and enjoyed collecting rocks. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Harrisburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Richard "Dick" Wood in 2017, two sons, Richard D. Wood, Jr. and David Wood, two brothers, Deverne Stricklin and Robert Lee Stricklin and a son by choice, Mike Denton. She is survived by one daughter, Peggy Wood, one son, Zack Wood, two sisters, Betty J. Lamb and Jean Ashcraft (Joe), two grandchildren, Spring Rose Wood (Molly) and Nathan Wood (Hollis), two daughters in law, Lynn Jones (Sam) and Terry Taylor, two sons by choice, Butch Bradley (Marsha) and David Alexander, two daughters by choice, Vernisa Eskridge and Patrize Sproling, and a very special friend and caregiver, Alice Fearson.
