Deacon Alvin White, 84, of Little Rock, departed this life August 24, 2019. He was born on December 20, 1934. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty White; parents, Willie and Odessa White; brother, Winston White; Godchild, Livia Nelson. He leaves to cherish memories: daughter, Terri Lynn White; grandsons, Devin Tyler and Courvoisier Moragne; great-grandchild, Jasper; Godchildren, Chelsa Payne, La'Tasha Henderson, Charles Thomas; a host of family and friends. Deacon White at the age of 13 professed his love for Christ at New Hope Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a deacon for many years. In 1967, Deacon White began a career in radio broadcasting under Jacko Carter. He was transformed into "The Electrifying Deacon Alvin White." He was a promoter that worked with artist both locally and nationally. Deacon White produced the Gospel TV and Variety Show. He taped shows at Faith Temple Baptist Church and brought artist such as The Mighty Clouds of Joy, Shirley Caesar and Albertina Walker to the Dunbar Community Center. After 39 years in radio, Deacon White simply says, "Radio has been good to me." Deacon White also received many awards for his accomplishments but the citation from the House of Representatives for Gospel Heritage Award was the one he was most proud of. His famous quote "I love you, I love you and especially you my dear and I will see you in the morning." Homegoing Celebration: Saturday, 11 a.m. at Greater Second Baptist Church, 5615 Geyer Springs Rd., LR, AR.
