Tommy Royce Ashby

Tommy Royce Ashby, 71, of Springdale, passed away Friday, August 23, 2019 at his home. Tommy was born on January 9, 1948 in Hughes, Arkansas, a son of Sam Ashby and Cecila Franks Ashby. Tommy was the manager of Wyatt's Cafeteria for many years and also had worked for George's Processing before his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, reading and spending time with his family. Tommy was a Vietnam Veteran having served honorably in the U.S. Navy. He is survived by two daughters, Randi and husband Jeremy Fleming of Springdale and Samantha Newberry of Prairie Grove; one brother, Byron Ashby of Memphis, Tenn.; one sister, Cheryle Ashby Smith of Springdale; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John Franklin Ashby. Visitation will be held at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Chapel on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 10 a.m. Burial will be conducted at the Fayetteville National Cemetery on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 2 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Springdale.
