Barbara Swain, 79, of Ward, Arkansas passed peacefully from this life the morning of August 27th after gradual decline in health. She was surrounded and supported by her family and caregivers during the last days of her life. Barbara was born in Dyersburg, Tennessee on October 10, 1939. She worked at Maybelline for 20 years. She was a devoted mother. She enjoyed her grandchildren, and loved watching hummingbirds on her back porch. For several years she made and decorated cakes for several family members and friends. Barbara is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jackson Swain of Ward; three children, Dale Swain (Sharon who preceded Barbara in death a month ago), of El Paso, Charles Swain (Deyon) of Lonoke, and Karen Madding (Jeff) of Austin; three grandchildren, Michael Swain, Tanya Bailey and Dalton Madding; four great grandchildren; brother J.I. Harrison of Louisiana and sister, Dorothy Palmer of Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her father, A.F. Harrison, her mother, Otie Harrison, brothers, William "Buck" Harrison, M.W. "Bill" Harrison; sisters, Margaret Griggers, Mattie May Wildmon and Bonnie Chandler. Memorials may be made to Hospice Home Care, 821A North Creek, Conway, Ark. 72034. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe.
