BARBARA JEAN BALL, 81, died Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Hospice Home Care of Little Rock. Barbara was born on July 23, 1938, in Bell, Calif., to the late Fred and Delcie Shelnutt. She was the oldest of 6 children. She grew up in Benton, Ark., where she met and married her husband of 49 years, Carroll F. Ball, the love of her life, who preceded her in death in 2009. Barbara graduated from the Draughon School of Business in Little Rock and worked for the Little Rock School District for many years, most of which were spent as school secretary at Jefferson Elementary. She was devoted to Jefferson and worked enthusiastically and tirelessly; upon her retirement, a garden was planted in front of the school in her honor. Barbara was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church. Barbara was an avid reader, excellent seamstress, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and the hardest worker you would ever meet. There was not a lazy bone in her body. There was no task too hard, and she would figure it out if she didn't know how to do it. She was kind, selfless, determined, and independent, and had a special talent of being able to find any lost object! She was also a die-hard Razorback fan. Barbara is survived by her son, Fred Ball, and his wife, Sarah, of Little Rock; her daughter, Becky Ball, of Nacogdoches, Texas; her sister, Terry Munselle, of Deer Park, Texas; four grandchildren, Kelsey, Wesley, Laney, and Mary Clare, two step-granddaughters, Katie and Hannah, and one great-granddaughter, Ellie Grace. Visitation will be at Ruebel Funeral Home in Little Rock on Thursday, December 5, 2019, from 5-7 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Pinecrest Cemetery on December 6, 2019 at 11 a.m., with Father Jim Schratz officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home, www.ruebelfuneralhome.com.
