John E. Cummins, 90, of Rogers, passed away December 4, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Rogers. He was born January 10, 1929 in Hollis, Okla., the son of the late Robert and Lola Garton Cummins. The large family moved from Oklahoma to Little Flock, Ark., in 1939 and he graduated from Rogers High School in 1947. John was inducted into the Army in 1951 and served in the Korean War until it after it ended in 1953. He was trained as a radio man in Japan and served on the front lines while in Korea. He worked as a brick mason from a young age, then became a well driller after moving his family back to Rogers in 1969. John's favorite pastimes were fishing and spending time with his large family. He loved teasing his nieces and nephews, and he loved them all dearly. Most times if you found John he would be working in his large garden or riding his lawnmower, even when the yard didn't need mowing. He loved spending time at the "pool hall" at the Rogers Wellness Center and made many good friends there. He was preceded in death by his wife Kathryn Cummins in 2004, four brothers, and four sisters. John is survived by his children Joni Cossey of Rogers; Rhonda Cossey of Rogers, Johnny Dale Cummins and wife Kathy of Fayetteville, Grant Cummins and wife Beth of Rogers, sisters Marzelle Perkins of Ozark, Mo., Sue Jordan of Rogers, and Gayle Smith of Little Flock. He was also blessed with eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild as well as many, many nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held 5 p.m., Wednesday, December 11, 2019 with visitation to follow until 7 p.m., at Benton County Funeral Home 306 N. 4th St. Rogers, Ark.
