Janet Louise Swinney Liles, 87, of Searcy, passed away Monday, December 9, 2019. She was born May 16, 1932 in Rye, Arkansas to the late J.J. Swinney and Gillis Wallace. Janet Louise graduated Valedictorian from Woodlawn School and completed Baptist Nursing Training School shortly afterwards. Her nursing career began at Baptist Hospital followed by Dallas Children's Hospital, and Little Rock Veterans Hospital. She met the love of her life, Jackie Liles, while working in Little Rock, married and moved to Searcy. As the two began their lives together, they went to Manhattan Kansas for Jackie's basic training in the Army. Jackie was deployed to Germany and Janet returned to Rye, Arkansas. After Jack's term in the service, the two returned to Searcy Arkansas. In the meantime, Jerry Wayne and Joe Don were born. Upon returning to Searcy, Janet's nursing career included, Porter Rogers Hospital, Dr. Hugh Edwards office, AR Health Department, Bryd Haven Nursing Home, and Central Arkansas Hospital Home Health. Janet's nursing career spanned 44 years and brought her great joy. After retirement, she volunteered for the Hospital Auxiliary. Janet loved to share Christ's love by cooking for her family, friends and community. She also enjoyed going to church, singing in the choir and gardening. Janet was a member of West Race Baptist Church. She loved her husband, boys, their wives, her grandkids and great grandson dearly. The family would like to thank Arkansas Hospice and all her care givers, especially daughter-in-law, Teresa Liles. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Jerry Wayne Liles (Teresa), Joe Don Liles (Janet); siblings, Melton Swinney (Betty Sue), Betty Charlene Chapman (Jody), Landol Swinney (Barbara), Wendal Swinney (Glinda), Brenda Swinney, Stanley Young; grandchildren, Justin Wayne Liles, Jennifer Danielle Liles (Corey Wilson); one great-grandchild, Jason Edward Baldwin and many nieces, nephews, friends and other family members. Janet is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jackie Wayne Liles; siblings, Marlyn Swinney, Lorene Swinney, Joy Young and Vic Chapman. Visitation will be from 12 noon to 2 p.m. with services following at 2 p.m. Friday, December 13, 2019 at the West Race Baptist Church in Searcy.
