Mary Frances Johnston

Mary Frances Johnston, age 98, of Fayetteville, died on December 7th, 2019 at Butterfield Trail Village, Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was born in Tioga, Texas on September 6th, 1921, the middle child of Ida Sue Atkins and Richard Vernon Perry. She attended North Texas State University where she obtained a degree in business. She married the love of her life Perry Max Johnston on January 10th, 1943. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother (Omy) and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, sisters Othella and Helen and her brother J.D. (Buddy) Perry. Mary was a member of First United Presbyterian Church. Both she and her husband Max were long-time volunteers at Washington Regional Medical Center. She is survived by Steve and Mary Sue (Susie) Slack of Wooster, Ohio, Richard and Suree Johnston of Richland, Washington, Perry and Kathy Johnston of Mabelvale, Arkansas, Tim and Jenny Osborn of Fayetteville, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 17th, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. at Butterfield Trail Village, Fayetteville, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Butterfield Trail Village Foundation, the First United Presbyterian Church of Fayetteville, or Arkansas Children's Hospital Northwest. The family would like to express its deep appreciation to the nurses and staff of the Butterfield Trail Health Care Unit for the compassionate care they gave Mary for many years.
