B.O. Roop

B.O. "Bo" Roop, age 99, of Fayetteville, Ark., passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2019, in Springdale, Ark. He was born August 24, 1920, in Loving, Okla., a son of the late Thomas Irvin Roop and Bonnie Myrtle Barnes Roop. Bo grew up in Heavener, Okla., attended the University of Oklahoma and in his freshman year, 1939, he joined the United States Marine Corps. He was among the first group of Marines that went into the South Pacific 4 weeks after Pearl Harbor was attacked. He served until the end of the war. Working as an outside salesman for Williams Hardware he sold automotive parts and equipment throughout Northwest Arkansas for 35 years. He was also preceded in death by his wife Rosa and a daughter Linda Roop Branch. Surviving is his son Gary Roop (Jean), of Springdale; three grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Graveside service with military honors will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 18, at Sons Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements are by Moore's Funeral Chapel.
