Jerry Don Lamb

Jerry Don Lamb, 78, of Little Rock died on December 16, 2019. He was born in Levelland, Texas on September 9, 1941 to the late Billy and Louise Lamb. Jerry graduated from the University of Arkansas where he was one of the first players from Texas to be recruited to play football for the late Coach Frank Broyles. He was a co-captain of the 1964 National Championship football team. This was also where he met and married his wife of 56 years, Susan Smith Lamb. He was later inducted into the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame, The University of Arkansas Sports Hall of Honor, and is a member of the 1960 All-Decade Team. In 2014, he was also inducted into the SEC Football Legends class. Jerry founded Lamb & Associates Packaging in 1981. Over the years, he grew the company to become the largest, independently owned, corrugated box plant in the state. Until his death, Jerry continued to work alongside his children, Laurie and Kyle, and grandson, Garrett. He is survived by his wife, Susan; his children, Laurie Whitfield (Bobby) and Kyle Lamb (Carla); grandchildren, Courtney Decker (Chris), Cody Adcock, Garrett Lamb, and Justin Lamb; sisters, Frances Hamby and Deborah Schmaltz (Kurt); sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Donna and Richard Shaw; along with several nieces and nephews. We would like to thank Dr. James Suen and his staff at the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute for their exceptional and loving care of Jerry over the past two years. Memorial service will be 1 p.m., on Friday, December 20, 2019 at St. James United Methodist Church, 321 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock, Ark. 72212, reception to follow.
