Albert Ray Montgomery

Albert Ray Montgomery, age 94, of Hilltop Lakes went to be with his Lord on Thursday, December 12, 2019. Funeral services will be at First Baptist Church on Thursday December 19 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Bob Shirley pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery. Ray was born in Carlton, Texas on August 22, 1925 to Albert and Beula Mae (Chick) Montgomery. He grew up in Carlton and met and married the love of his life Mary Marie Birkner on November 29, 1945 in St Louis, Mo. They had been married for over 61 years when she preceded him in death in 2007. Also preceding him in death was a son Donald Montgomery. Ray proudly served his country in the US Army Air Corp during WWII being stationed in Alaska. Ray leaves behind his daughter, Sharon Carl of Hilltop Lakes and two grandchildren, Margaret and husband Adam Metts of Normangee and Michael Carl Jr. and wife Regina of Oklahoma City. He also leaves behind three great-grandchildren Damon Byrum, Ashley Wax, and Adam Wax as well as three brothers, Joe and wife Virginia Montgomery of Jacksonville, Texas, Gene and wife Bobbie Montgomery of Sanger, Texas and Jerry and wife Carole Montgomery of Mesquite, Texas.
