Hershal Gaston Story, 87, of Jacksonville died Wednesday, December 18, 2019. He was born July 15, 1932 in Alexander City, Alabama to the late Nellie Belle Powell Story and John William Harlan Story. Mr. Story was a kind, loving, Christian man and a member of the Highway 367 Church of Christ in Austin. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1970 and retired with the rank of Master Sergeant. While still in the Air Force, Mr. Story managed the Minute Man in Jacksonville. He began working for the Postal Service in 1972 and retired in 2000 after 28 years. He met Penny in September 2000 and they were married in June 2001. In his spare time, Mr. Story enjoyed wood working. In addition to his parents, Mr. Story was preceded in death by his first wife, Allene Story; son, Darrell Story and sisters, Opal Engle and Geneva McDaniel. Mr. Story is survived by his wife Penny Story and son, Derrick Story, both of Jacksonville; stepson, Ben Holder of Arizona; daughter-in-law, Teresa Story of North Little Rock; grandchildren, Cecily Story and Adam Story (Christina) and four step-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Patsy Martin of Jacksonville and Judy Anderson of Nevada; brothers-in-law, Jonathan Greenway of Mountain Home, Timothy Greenway (Tamara) of Cabot and Dennis Greenway of Wynne; nephews, Dewayne Curry and Dave Lynn; great-nieces, Isabella and Abagail Greenway and step-nephews, Justin Greenway (Vicky) and Chaz Greenway. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, December 23, 2019 in the chapel of Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home with Brother Kevin Webb officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior. Entombment will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Park in Beebe. Arrangements are by Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home (501) 982-2136.
