Weldon Davis, 93, of North Little Rock passed away peacefully at home on December 17, 2019. He was born in Mount Vernon, Arkansas on November 29, 1926. He was preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Charlotte Davis, and his wife of 63 years, Louise. He is survived by his three sons: Ben Davis (Linda) of Nashville, Tennessee; Lynn Davis of Little Rock; Tommy Davis (Jan) of Little Rock; seven grandchildren: Emily Hirzel (Brandon); Aaron Davis (Natalya); Blake Davis; Ellen Wills (Brad); Alison Vigneault (Matt); William Davis (Regan); and Gracie Davis. He is also survived by his beloved great-grandchildren India, Jackson, Alexander, Ida Jane, Skylar, and Elliott. After graduating from Mount Vernon high school in 1944, he attended college at Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway. He later attended the University of Arkansas Law School, taking classes at night after a full day's work, from which he received his law degree in 1964. He began his career at Arkansas Farm Bureau Insurance Company in 1954 and held several senior administrative positions throughout his career and until his retirement in 1990. He is remembered at Arkansas Farm Bureau as a compassionate and clear-thinking leader who helped guide the company through its progressive growth and development into the successful company that it is today. During those years he always managed to attend his sons' many sports and academic events and supported his three sons as they graduated from private universities as well as medical and pharmacy colleges. All the while, he maintained a 640-acre active cattle farm in Mount Vernon, Ark., becoming especially active after retirement from Farm Bureau. He is remembered as a man of character, honesty, directness, integrity, and fairness. He has touched many lives and served as a mentor to several generations of young men and women and will be missed by many people of all ages and vocations.
