Osie E. Watson, 85, of Hot Springs, Ark., passed away December 24, 2019. He was born October 16, 1934, in Humphrey, Ark., to William Osie and Virgie Watson. Osie grew up in Dermott and graduated from Dermott High School. After high school Osie spent two years at Arkansas A&M and later graduated from the University of Mississippi with his BBA. He worked as a supervising adjustor for Travelers Insurance Company. Osie then joined Rebsamen Insurance and worked there for 33 year. He retired as a Senior Vice President. Osie was appointed by Governor Pryor to the Justice Building Committee. He served as past president of the Downtown Kiwanis Club and received the Geo F. Hixson Award. Osie had 32 years of perfect attendance. Osie was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hot Springs and served on the board of stewards for his church. He also served on the Joseph Pfeifer Camp board for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Gladys Sevier Watson; daughter, Marti Kinyon (Kerry); step-daughter, Polly Rhodes (Keith); grandchildren, Dr. Hannah Williams (Dr. Matt), Emma Pettingill (Chris), Elle Henson, Zach Brown (Patrice); and great-grandchildren, August Williams and Olivia Brown. A celebration of Osie's life will be 10 a.m., Monday, at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home. A brief gathering of family and friends will follow the service. Burial will be at Lone Tree Cemetery in Stuttgart. Pallbearers include Eddie Downing, Tommy Clark, Kevin Fitzgerald, Dr. Matt Williams, Zach Brown, and Chris Pettingill. Honorary pallbearers are Randy Hall APN, Dr. Don and Kim Bodemann, and the Dermott High School Class of 1952.
