Lemmelia Goza Walter

Lemmelia Goza Walter, age 96, of Crossett, Arkansas, died December 28, 2019. She was born on May 22, 1923 in Magnolia, Mississippi to Ardis Robertson Goza and John Reid Goza Sr. After graduating from Magnolia High School, Lemmelia attended Mississippi State College for Women and Millsaps College. She was a member of Chi Omega Sorority.
Lemmelia and Lt. Virgil D. "Bucky" Walter were married May 31, 1944. Their 51 years of happiness together included life with their three sons and grandson. Lemmelia's life was filled with unquestioning love and giving to others. Her faith, service and loyalty to The First United Methodist Church was lifelong. Her United Methodist Women Life Membership pin was cherished. With the same faithfulness, she supported and served the Salvation Army, the Hospital Auxiliary as a founding member, the Crossett Area Food Pantry, and the various other cultural and sporting events of the community. Placed at the top of her love of travel, were her many trips to New York City to be with family and friends.
In a class by itself was the love of her family reunions. Lemmelia had great pride in her family and took a sincere personal interest in every member. She was known as "Mimi" by most. Her many friends and family will miss her caring love, graciousness and smile.
Lemmelia is survived by sons, William Delbert Walter, Stephen Lewis Walter, John Goza Walter; grandson, Jesse Delbert Walter; sister-in-law, Carletta Walter Campbell (Rex); nephews, Carey Reid Varnado (Sharon), George Robertson Goza (Virginia), Gregory Reid Goza (Mary Ellen) and many great nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband; her parents; one sister, Ardis Marie Goza Varnado (George); one brother, John Reid Goza, Jr. (Nancy); brother-in-law, Marvin Walter (Sharon); nieces, Rebecca Marie Varnado Bannon (Robert), Elsie Jane Goza, Ardis Elizabeth Goza Stratton (Richard); grandsons, Aaron Michael Walter and Jerod Reid Walter.
Lemmelia has given her body to The University of Arkansas Medical Center for Medical Research. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church of Crossett, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 500 Main Street, Crossett, Arkansas 71635 or to the charity of choice.
