Richard Cecil Howk, of Rogers, passed away on January 25, 2019 at the family home. He was born on July 12, 1952 in Van Nuys, California to the late Cecil "Jack" and Muriel Howk. Richard graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1971, and soon after he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he proudly served his country for 7 years as a Sergeant in the Arkansas Army National Guard. He began his professional career in the printing industry at Siloam Springs Printing and the University of Arkansas Press before moving on to Glad Manufacturing/The Clorox Company, where he retired in 2018 after 40 years of service as a Maintenance Engineer. Richard was also an active community leader. He was a firefighter/first responder for the Little Flock Fire Department for 8 years, including serving as Chief from 1991-1995. Richard was also heavily involved in the Boy Scouts of America as the Cubmaster for Cub Scout Pack 12 in Rogers. In his leisure time, Richard was an avid duck and deer hunter, gardener, and a master woodcrafter. His survivors include his loving wife, Tammy; his sons, Richard Howk II of Bentonville, Steven Howk, and his wife, Colleen, of Fort Worth, Texas, Ronnie Crupper, of Bella Vista, Kevin Howk, and his fiance'e, Taylor, of Springfield, Missouri, Ryan Howk, of the home, Joshua Gelinas, and his wife, Aimee, of Grove, Oklahoma, Jerrid Gelinas, and his wife, Tracy, of Siloam Springs; his eight grandchildren; his brothers, David Tyrrell, Chuck Tyrrell, and Tim Howk; and a myriad of nephews, nieces, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dwayne "Smokey" Belveal; and his former wife, Virginia "Ann" Crihfield. A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 3 at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers.
