Burl Leon Hurley

Burl Leon Hurley, "Poppa", age 91, of Morrilton, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2019. He was born June 10, 1927 in Hector, a son of the late Berthal Hurley and the late Nola Tackett Hurley. He was the owner of Hurley Oil Company. He was a member of Morrilton First Presbyterian Church, Lions Club, 33rd Mason-Morrilton Lodge #105, Shriner, and a hunting and fishing enthusiast. He was an amazing man, role model, father, and grandfather. He had a big heart and loved all his family deeply. Survivors include his wife of 66 years: Ruby Sample Hurley; children: Lea Ann Moore of Conway, Dennis Hurley of North Little Rock; sister: Margie Eakin-Brannon of Atkins; grandchildren: Ashley Moore, Robert Moore, Andrea Moore, Max Hurley, and Samantha Hurley; and great-grandchild: Theo Prothroe Hurley. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father: Joe Hurley; brother: Geral Don Hurley; and sister: Loraine Reed. Memorial service will be 2:30 p.m. Monday, February 11, 2019 at Morrilton First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ainsley Herrick officiating. Private burial will be at Rock Springs Cemetery in Hector at a later date. Family will receive friends following the memorial service.
