John Graham Black

John Graham Black, 76, of Corning, Ark., passed away Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, at his home. Mr. Black was born May 22, 1942, in St. Louis, Mo. He was a former President of JW Black Lumber Company in Corning. He Graduated from Corning High School in 1960, earned a B.A. in English from St. Louis University in 1964 and a Law Degree from The University of Arkansas Law School in 1967. He enjoyed hunting, reading, cutting firewood, St. Louis Cardinals Baseball, Oaklawn Park, and The Western Channel. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Corning, Ark. He married Frances S. Zepecki on Feb. 17, 1973. Survivors include her, his children Mark O. Black (Christie), Julie F. Black, Gene E. Black, Jennifer S. Black (Ibrahim), Janice L. Patton, Michael J. Black (Haley), and 7 Grandchildren. Surviving siblings are Katherine J. Black, Elizabeth A. Black (Steve), Thomas L. Black (Cantu), and James D. Black (Robin). He was preceded in death by parents Charles Rufus Black, Jr., and Barbara Margaret (Stier) Black, as well as brothers Charles R. Black III, William Parr Black, and Robert J. Black. Visitation Feb. 16, 2019, at 10:00 a.m., 10:30 a.m. Rosary, and 11:00 a.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Corning Cemetery. Memorials may be made to his member Church in care of 2 CR 186, Corning, Ark., 72422. Regular Mass at 4:00 p.m. will still be held.
