Wesley E. Smith of Fayetteville died on February 6th at Willard Walker Hospice Home. He was born on November 28, 1935 in Boise City, Okla. to Glenn and Lucille Wingert Smith. Wesley retired from Bristol-Myers Squibb in 1994 after 25 years. Wesley graduated from West Texas A&M, Canyon, Texas in 1958. He married Martha Ann Laws in 1957 and they were married for 62 years. Wesley entered the army in 1959. He attended Ft. Benning Officer School and paratrooper training and was then sent to Ft. Sill, Okla. as a platoon leader in the artillery training center. When Wesley left the army he returned to Amarillo, Texas and was employed by McKesson Robbins Wholesale and later joined Bristol-Myers Squibb. In 1969, he attended the University of Oklahoma and received his Masters of Public Health degree. After a 6 year stint in New Mexico, Wes returned to Bristol-Myers Squibb in Little Rock, Ark. and retired to Fayetteville in 1994. Wesley is survived by his wife, Martha Ann, his son, Thomas Smith and his wife Lori, his daughter, Donna Culpepper and her husband Steve. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Chris Needham and his wife, Jamie, Zac Smith, Stephen Needham and his wife, Erin, and Kathleen Nicholson and her husband Jordan. He is also survived by one brother, Paul Smith and his wife, Doris, his sister-in-law, Charlotte Bryan and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 11th at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Cross Church in Springdale with Pastor Charlie Foster officiating.
