Blondell Taylor, age 66, passed away peacefully February 9, 2019 in Little Rock, Arkansas surrounded by her family. She was born August 28, 1952 in Stanton, Tennessee to Mr. and Mrs. William "Jelly" and Lazelle "Nookie" Taylor. Blondell loved to spend time with her family. Like her mother she shared her love for cooking with her daughters with favorite recipes like fried chicken, BBQ ribs and pot roast. Her love for family is a living example of her favorite Bible Verse, 1 Corinthians 13:13, And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. Upon graduating from Lester High School in Memphis, she attended and graduated from State Technical Institute at Memphis (Southwest Tennessee Community College). She joined the United States Air Force in April of 1975 and served her country with distinction for over 20 years. While in the military she was assigned as an Administrative Technician at various Air Force installations which included Chanute AFB, Illinois; Norton AFB, California; Millington Naval Base, Tennessee; and Little Rock AFB. In May of 1995 she retired; during her service she received Four Air Force Commendations Medals, Five Air Force Good Conduct Medals, the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award and the National Defense Service Medal with a Bronze Star. After completing an honorable military career, Blondell worked with the Little Rock School District for over 20 years in the Math & Science Department. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Clarence "Bill" Thompson (Delores), William J. Taylor Jr. (Corine) and Larry D. Taylor (Shirley); and a very special Aunt, Annie Thompson Conner. Blondell leaves to cherish her memories, her daughters Adrienne Smith (Sylvester) and Veronica McKnight (Keith) all of North Little Rock. Sisters, Betty Jean Taylor (Leroy) of Chicago, Beverly Davis of Memphis. A brother, James Wesley Currie of Memphis. Granddaughters, Camden Smith and Vanity McKnight of North Little Rock and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. All of these she loved and touched deeply. Please join us in celebrating her life Thursday February 14, 2019. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon, with services immediately following at Saint Mark Baptist Church, 5722 West 12th Street in Little Rock, Arkansas. Burial to follow at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 West Maryland Ave., North Little Rock, Arkansas. The family would also like to express their extreme appreciation and gratitude to the fine staff at Woodland Heights Senior Living and Kindrid Hospice for the exceptional care and comfort they provided our dear Blondell.
