Joe Lloyd "J.L." Wilson of Sheridan passed away on February 13, 2019 at the age of 83, at the Saline Memorial Hospice Center from complications of Alzheimer's. He was the eldest child of the late Joe T. and Mary Wilson. J.L. was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Lou; son, Mike; granddaughter, Kristy; brothers, Tony Bob and Billy John and sister, Betty Funderburk. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Mary Beth; son, Rodney (Tina); grandson, Shawn (Brandi); granddaughters, Stephanie Whitaker (Gordon) and Kellie Wilson; great-grandchildren, Jozlynn, Jordan, Christina, Tyler, Karver and Konner; sisters-in-law, Anne Wilson and Wilma Wilson; daughter-in-law, Nancy Cathchot (Robert) and several nieces, and nephews. J.L. was a member of First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, Finis Gallion Post #30 American Legion, Sheridan Masonic Lodge No. 260 F&AM, Scottish Rite, past Patron of Sheridan Chapter No. 212 Order of the Eastern Star, the Model A Ford Clubs of America, the Fiftieth Anniversary Model A Club, the Dixie Car Club and the Mid-South Car Club. J.L. served nine years in the Army Air Corp in Korea and Germany. He had been on the Pine Bluff Police Force and was a retired conductor from the Cotton Belt Railroad after 31 years of service. J.L. and Mary Beth made many trips in their RV across the U.S. and Canada visiting Museums and Historic Sites. They only lacked the New England states being in all the lower 48 together twice. Another hobby they enjoyed was taking their antique cars to car shows where they had won close to 200 trophies. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, February 15, 2019 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Shawn Hill and Bro. DeHaan Thornton officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery in Prattsville with Bro. John Mooney officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Landmark Building Fund, 402 West Center, Sheridan, Arkansas 72150, Philadelphia Cemetery, 25 Robin Drive, Sheridan, Arkansas 72150 or Grant County Museum, 521 Shackleford Road, Sheridan, Arkansas 72150.
